A limited Arkansas bourbon collaboration
When an Arkansas barrel pick became handcrafted chocolate
The Bourbon Club of Arkansas commissioned a limited collection of whiskey-infused chocolates made with the club’s Buffalo Trace “Gone Sippin’” private barrel selection. The chocolates were handcrafted by The Candy Lady, a longtime artisan candy maker in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
BCA’s “Gone Sippin’” Buffalo Trace selection
The whiskey at the center of this project was not an ordinary bottle pulled from a store shelf. It came from the Bourbon Club of Arkansas’ own Buffalo Trace private barrel pick, nicknamed “Gone Sippin’.”
Using the club’s selected bourbon gave the finished chocolates a direct connection to Arkansas’ bourbon community and transformed a private barrel selection into an entirely different tasting experience.

Handcrafted by The Candy Lady
The Candy Lady has been making candy in Albuquerque since 1980. The family-operated shop specializes in handcrafted chocolates, fudge and distinctive Southwestern confections made from family recipes.
The chocolatier is also widely associated with the television series Breaking Bad. The company says it was asked to produce the blue rock-candy prop used during the show’s first two seasons.
For the BCA project, the finished assortment included decorative squares, hearts, swirled rounds, faceted bonbons and other molded pieces presented in small gift boxes.
From bourbon selection to finished bonbon
The collaboration brought together an Arkansas bourbon organization, a Buffalo Trace private barrel selection and an established artisan chocolatier. It is an example of how a barrel pick can inspire something beyond the bottle while preserving the identity of the whiskey chosen by the club.
